One Day Trip To Taman Safari Indonesia

Last week, before the school holiday ended, I brought my 2 lovely daughters went to Taman Safari Indonesia. Taman Safari Indonesia is a place like a zoo, but also has the other facilities like amousement parks, several free shows, canteen, food courts and even restaurants. Taman Safari Indonesia is located at Cisarua, Bogor. It is located between Jakarta and Bandung, West java. It is just about 80 km drive from Soekarno-Hatta international airport Jakarta or about 2 hours drive by vehicle. Some people who drive from Bandung, West Java will take about 3 hours drive. We were driving from Jakarta and luckily, we picked the right day, there was no traffic jam, all the way had smooth trip. If the traffics were crowded, it might take us half of day.

When we reached at the entrance of the Taman Safari Indonesia, the ticket counter was not open yet. But there were already about 50 vehicles were queing there. I could understand since it was school holiday and nearing weekend. There were also many international visitors came to Taman Safari Indonesia, like America, Australia, China and even Middle East countries. After waiting for about 30 minutes, we could buy the ticket finally. The ticket prices vary from children to adults, domestic and international visitors. In this holiday seasons, for domestics, it's about USD 8.30 (adults), and USD 6.65 (child). For internatial visitors, it's about USD 13.50 (adult) and USD 11 (child).

It also has Night Safari, that is Safari at night time. The ticket prices are a bit more expensive than regular prices. It has different activities and shows between regular Safari and Night Safari.

Once we got our tickets, we directly headed to entry gate. The first animal that we saw was elephant. We could enjoy seeing the various kinds of animal while driving. We didn't have to go down and walk. The animals are free to walk on the road and "greet" all the visitors. We are so glad that we could see the animals so close and even touch them. They are tame. We even fed them carrots. They were walking on the road just like they were on the "catwalk". Other animals have zebras, hippos, rhinos, deer, antelopes, flamingos, cassoary, ostriches, monkeys, cows, giraffes, sun bears, orangutans, camels, etc.

The place is very clean and in well order. Many toilets are available to make all the visitors convenient. Many rubbish bin available too. Wide parking lots and clear signage for the visitors to see, so the visitors can easily find the way wherever they want to go. The time for the free shows are can be easily found, so the visitors would not miss the shows.

This is one of the interesting activities at Taman Safari Indonesia. It challenges the visitors to walk through Safari jungle on the narrow trail. While walking, the visitors may enjoy the beautiful scenery around, and meet many kind of animals and flowers. I and my family didn't join the Safari Trek because it was raining heavily and very long. Next time, I will surely try this challenging activity. For this Safari trek, it charges less than USD 4 per person.

They also provide Safari Trek & Funs. It allows the visitors to enjoy the amusement park inside the Taman Safari Indonesia. The amusement activities includes : elephant rides, pony rides, water canoe, go-cart, sky lift, spin boat, jet coaster, etc. They do have swimming pool as well for our children to enjoy. Once you already in the Taman Safari Indonesia, they are many endless activities to enjoy. It's like one day there never been enough ! The entry ticket price is very cheap too !

There are many free shows available there. Each show performs twice a day and the duration is about 30 minutes. The shows that I watched are tigers and lions show, cowboy shows, elephants show, dolphin show, birds of prey. After the show ends, the visitors are allowed to take picture with the animals. There are still many other shows, but I didn't watch all the shows because of the limited time and some shows were performing at the same time, I think I have to postpone it until my next visit.

The one that amazed me was cowboy show. It was very interesting and quite unique and unusual. The show was like the real Wild Wild West, with the performances of Cowboys and Indians performing dare devil stunts among spectacular explosions, shoot outs, and dramatic fight scenes. Also have the big doses of comedy and a host of nirds, horses, dogs, cats and mice. Two thumbs up for the Cowboy show !

At the Baby Zoo area, I could take photographs with young tigers, leopards, lions and orang utans. They are so cute and adorable just like our baby kids. I could also see the baby penguins in the water.

At Bird Aviary area, I could enjoy more than 1.000 birds from 90 different species, fly free. It's a spectacular sight. I really enjoyed that !

At the Reptile area, I could see many many kinds of snakes, Iguanas, Bats, etc. They live in the boxes provided with the fake trees and water and food.

After everybody getting tired and the sky getting dark, I decided to end this fun journey. Although, inside my heart I just wanted to check in to the hotel in Taman Safari Indonesia and continue the journey the next morning ! But I didn't plan to stay overnight from the very beginning, so I better heading home directly. We had dinner on the way home and bought some souvenirs. The way home took about 2.5 hours to Jakarta. What a great day !
